Concussion / Traumatic Brain Injury

The real consequence of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is that those who don’t think they have it are often the ones that do. In other words, most people with TBI don’t realize that a brain injury has occurred. Plus, repetitive mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), such as that experienced by retired NFL Players has been associated with the development of Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE). Often the first signs of CTE are problems associated with a person’s executive functioning. Neurofeedback can help alleviate the problems associated with TBI and over time, Neurofeedback sessions can provide a better quality of life.

The warning signs of TBI can vary and it affects each person differently. Problems can manifest themselves cognitively, emotionally and physically. Some of the warning signs of repeated head concussions are depression, anxiety, sleeping problems, anger issues, impulsivity, reduced attention and focus, poor memory, behavioral changes, difficulties with decision-making, balance problems and inability to think clearly.

Many of the head injury issues that are occurring can be detected by brain mapping (Quantitative/qEEG). After qEEG analysis, Neurofeedback or brain training can help restore behavior, mood and cognitive functioning. In fact, High Performance Neurofeedback (HPN) is a specific form of neurofeedback which has shown significant clinical efficacy in treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). N) is a specific form of neurofeedback which has shown significant clinical efficacy in treating Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
